My son has been in the battle of winning over cancer for almost 10 years and was excited to have an African American woman added to his care team.
My son Jason is a 19-year-old cancer warrior and has been treated at Dallas Children's Hospital since the age of 10. Although we were very sad to lose his original oncology nurse, we were soon very relieved. Meeting Tamrah Moore, APRN, CPNP-PC, for the first time was a smooth transition.
Upon entering the examination room, her smile truly brightened my son's day. He has been in the battle of winning over cancer for almost 10 years and was excited to have an African American woman added to his care team. She was very familiar with my son's diagnosis, and they hit it off right away. She makes my son feel comfortable enough to share his concerns and takes a serious approach to really listening to him. She has been his constant cheerleader through recurrence and graduation, getting his first car, his first wreck and graduation.
Recently, she has been attentive to him undergoing radiation on a new spot in his lungs. My son is encouraged to keep up the fight because he knows he has Tamrah on his team.
In short, she has become family because of her caring and compassionate nature. We try to include her in all of Jason's milestones, great or small. There has not been a time when we reached out to her that she was not able to respond accordingly to my son's needs. I cannot think of a kinder person to nominate because she honestly cares for her patients and their outcomes to live a full and healthy life.
