The dedication of one oncology nurse rewards many patients at the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.
Misty Strickland, RN, OCN, is a phenomenal and exceptional nurse. I first met Misty when I was in training; she was the nurse of one of my mentors at the time. I remember her saying to me, "If you ever practice at Ohio State University, I want to be your nurse one day." And I’m so lucky and blessed that the stars aligned and we are now working together.
Misty gives all that she has to our patients. She is so dedicated to them. Most days, she does not eat lunch because she’s too busy taking care of a patient or ensuring that a patient call or message is taken care of. She'd rather go hungry than keep patients waiting. She treats each patient with care and compassion. She has an ability to see the good in everyone and helps calm patients when they are facing a serious and scary diagnosis such as cancer. Our patients love and adore her; she is very relatable.
Misty is very organized and type A. She hates to have things incomplete on her to-do list, and this ensures that patient matters are taken care of in a timely manner without delays. She is thorough and complete and will always follow through and follow up.
She is reliable and dependable. I’m so blessed to have her as my nurse, the James is blessed to have her working here and our patients really appreciate her. She is very deserving of recognition because of her dedication and the compassionate care that she provides day in and out for our patients who are going through such difficult times.
