Cure Media Group Adds American Lung Association to its Advocacy Spotlight Partnership Program

Lung.org publicizes efforts of American Lung Association to defeat lung cancer through research, education and advocacy.

PLAINSBORO, N.J. (PRWEB) January 20, 2016 -- CURE Media Group, the nation’s leading digital and print media enterprise focused on cancer patients, welcomes the American Lung Association to its Advocacy Spotlight Partnership program.

“Working with the American Lung Association will enhance our ability to provide up-to-the-minute information about research, treatment and effective ways of living with lung cancer and other lung diseases,” said Mike Hennessy Jr., president of CURE Media Group. “We will help publicize the American Lung Association’s activities and efforts through CURE® magazine and our other communications and content services.”

The American Lung Association is the leading organization working to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease. The organization has made defeating lung cancer a strategic imperative and works toward this goal through research, education and advocacy.

In its commitment to defeating lung cancer and reducing the burden on those affected by this disease, the American Lung Association offers resources and information about lung cancer, an online support group and discussion community and its strategic-cause initiative called LUNG FORCE. With a viewpoint that only a force of many can take on lung cancer, LUNG FORCE unites women to stand together against this No. 1 cancer killer of both women and men in the United States and for lung health.

“Despite being the top cancer killer, many women do not have lung cancer as a top-of-mind cancer concern,” said Dr. Albert Rizzo, senior medical advisor of the American Lung Association. “Through initiatives like LUNG FORCE, the Lung Association is increasing awareness about lung cancer, educating the public about screening options now available to those considered high-risk and saving lives. Joining with CURE Media Group will help us accomplish these objectives.”

The American Lung Association also funds investigator-initiated research grants on lung cancer and other lung diseases, like COPD and asthma. In fact, the Lung Association has doubled its investment in lung cancer research in the past two years and has announced the new LUNG FORCE Research Innovation Project: Lung Cancer in Women Award, to be awarded beginning in July 2016.

“There’s a breadth of data, information and important findings coming from the American Lung Association, from research to advocacy to fundraising,” added Hennessy. “Such organizations play a big role in the fight against cancer and other devastating lung diseases, and we look forward to helping them continue in that role.”
