A colleague describes a nurse’s aim to not only provide the best care for her patients but also be a continuous student of health care.
I would like to nominate Ann McCue, M.S.N., RN, OCN, for the 2021 CURE® Extraordinary Healer® Award for Oncology Nursing. Ann has been an oncology nurse since 2006 and has worked in both the inpatient and outpatient arenas. Ann has worked at Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers in Denver since June 2017, and since hire, has set the bar for professionalism and commitment to oncology nursing care.
Ann is a perpetual student of health care who models the essential nursing behaviors required to continually exceed performance expectations in patient care and peer collaboration. She demonstrates the attributes of emotional intelligence, honesty, kindness, respect and integrity. Ann delivers the best patient care possible each and every day and is dedicated to best practice standards. She takes pride in educating her patients and her peers in what is new in evidenced-based literature and Oncology Nursing Society practices. Ann is a great fiscal steward and is always thinking and utilizing ways and methods outside of the box to help her patients seek and maintain treatment options. Her daily clinical responsibilities at Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers include managing triage phone calls for symptomatology, patient teaching, prescription coordination, processing necessary paperwork for arranging tertiary care, hospice care, patient and caregiver disability, hospital testing and historical records procurement for appointments. Ann has been a contributing author in several published works including an article in the journal Nursing Ethics.
Please consider Ann an exemplary nurse and healer.
