I would like to nominate Janice Moore, B.S.N., RN, OCN, for the Extraordinary Healer® Award. Janice is an exemplary nurse at Fox Chase Cancer Center and has been a member of various teams across the institution for more than 30 years.

When she joined the radiation team, I knew we had acquired a diamond in the rough, and since that moment Janice has been a guiding light of positivity for our team. Janice exemplifies the three core values of Fox Chase Cancer Center. Even though she is the newcomer in the department, she is widely respected and has made a quick name for herself for her wide array of experience and years of service. Janice blows me away with her composure in the face of stress, and she has a calming influence on her peers as well.

Service excellence is her strength and patients love her, as does the team provider. She is the reason that patients on her service feel a sense of continuity of care. She knows every patient on her service well, can anticipate their needs and is always responsive to their concerns and questions.

Janice is self-directed, knows what needs to be done and does it efficiently and effectively. She motivates the team, always arrives and leaves with a positive attitude and encourages others to do the same. She is highly accountable for not just her own productivity but also the productivity of her team and outcomes of the patients. She shoulders the majority of the care coordination and follow-up.

Janice always leads with professionalism and is highly respected by her peers, the provider she works with, leadership and patients. Janice has gained so much knowledge since joining our team, and she is already emerging as a resource and leader in our department. She is also mentoring a nurse extern. Janice is an excellent communicator, frequently checks in with me about her service and keeps the team informed when she is not going to be here if there are concerns.

Janice is a top nurse and someone every manager would want on their team. I can depend on her to do what is right, and I rely on her frequently to work with the team to overcome barriers or find creative ways to improve efficiency. Janice would be a tremendous leader if she ever decided to go down that path again in her future.

Janice is a hard worker and dedicated to the profession of nursing. Patients comment on her compassion and quality of care regularly. It is my pleasure to nominate Janice for this amazing award.
