For a long time, MPNs were quite "mysterious," Mukherjee said, noting that physicians had a difficult time diagnosing and characterizing them. But thanks to increasing awareness about MPN genetics, as well as the condition itself, physicians and patients have a better understanding on how to handle MPNs.
