Even after surgery and chemotherapy, I make sure to shine through cancer and any fear that stares at me.
Fear it whispers
Ever so persistently
‘Is it now? Are you ready?’
A constant companion
Holding hands with
Long dark nights.
Eyes open, no rest
Birdsong lifts the sun
Fear exits with
Aromas of coffee
“Not today.” I say
My heart shines.
