Regaining Intimacy After an Ovarian Cancer Diagnosis

Saketh Guntupalli, M.D., gynecologic oncologist at the University of Colorado Hospital, discusses ways that women can improve intimacy after an ovarian cancer diagnosis.

A major first step in regaining sexuality after an ovarian cancer diagnosis is being connected with your partner, according to Saketh Guntupalli, M.D., of the University of Colorado. Open communication is key. Also, it is important that women realize their new normal, and that certain things that they found pleasurable before may no longer be pleasure for them, or may be in a different way. Finally, Guntupalli wants women to remember that intimacy is not solely based on intercourse, but all the other aspects surrounding it, too.
