More Than Friends Sends a Message of Health at Annual Tea Party

Lorén Barbosa, co-chairperson of More Than Friends, discussed the Latino/Caribbean/American organization's Annual Tea Party and the their goal of sending a message of overall health and wellness.

More Than Friends’ events are about more than cancer — at their charity events, the organization prefers to send a message of overall health and wellness rather than dwelling on the negative.

Lorén Barbosa, co-chairperson of More Than Friends, discussed the Annual Tea Party put on by the Latino/Caribbean/American initiative that is dedicated to servicing cancer survivors.

“We encourage and send a message of health so it’s not just ‘cancer at the tea party’,” said Barbosa. “We’ve visited quite a few areas of health that are important, whether it’s heart wellness, diabetes and we’ve done things with spousal and physical abuse.”
