Gordon says that when a family is dealing with a child with cancer or who has recently passed, the last thing they want to do is deal with paying for treatment. This is a situation Gordon recently encountered when a mother could not bear to keep telling insurance companies the name and birthday of her son who died. Gordon took over. She also works with insurance companies frequently to argue the case for some treatments, since many drugs are not FDA-approved in the pediatric setting.
