I wrote this poem in honor of my niece who had breast cancer, who was determined to live out the rest of her life giving her loved ones hope and strength.
You were so courageous knowing your days on Earth weren't long
Even in your weakest moments, you chose to show up strong
You motivated the masses as you fought to achieve your dreams
Determined to keep your dignity and walk in high esteem
There were days you dared to struggle and days you dared to win
Days you dared to give up hope, days you dared give in
You taught me so many things as I watched you fight this fight
You were so loving and kind to others even at the end of life
Fear and faith can't marry as you held on to the latter
Inspiring others to live and laugh to hold on to what matters
To be in the moment not in your past for no one knows tomorrow
You understood that life is short, the time we have is borrowed
You were strong, yet you were tired, it came your time to rest
Though broken hearted you made me proud
I saw you do your best
Missing you, I look to Heaven I can feel your smile
WELL DONE, my precious niece
I'll see you after a while.
Well Done!
