WATERTON LAKES NATIONAL PARK2022

Robyn McCrossin

Robyn McCrossin

My name is Robyn McCrossin. I am the wife of Jimmy McCrossin, who has been diagnosed with myelofibrosis. Jimmy had not been himself for several years, but a diagnosis of myelofibrosis was not made until June 10, 2021. There is no cure for myelofibrosis. Current protocols are aimed at symptom reduction. Jimmy is currently participating in a clinical trial under the care of Dr. Aaron Gerds of the Cleveland Clinic. Thankfully, his symptoms have been reduced significantly! We are looking forward to completing this beautiful hike together while making new friends! Most importantly, we hope to help raise money that is desperately needed for continued research leading to early detection, early intervention and the development of permanent cures. Many brilliant minds are working on just that!

Personally, I am a wife, mom, stepmom, daughter, sister, in-law, aunt, cousin, mimi and friend. I enjoy all kinds of creative and outdoor activities. Professionally, I am a physical therapist. I have been blessed to work with patients ranging from young, strong professional athletes, fire fighters and an older and more fragile geriatric population. I’ve been blessed to be able to care for and hopefully make a difference in many lives throughout my career. My hope with this hike is to bring about a greater awareness of myelofibrosis and other MPNs, both in the general community and within the broader medical community. This awareness will lead to early recognition of disease and referrals to specialists so that intervention can take place sooner.
