WATERTON LAKES NATIONAL PARK2022

Chad Wells

Chad Wells

My name is Chad and I have been working in the field on oncology since January 2001. My career and exposure to the field of cancer began at this time when I started selling in the oncology market for several companies. My work experience in oncology also includes years of hematology work.

In 2012, I switched over to hematology and began my career with Incyte. Since then, I have been working in the field of hematology and specifically the field of myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs). Selling a treatment for myeloproliferative neoplasms has allowed me to engage with doctors, advanced practitioners, nurses, office staff and caregivers.

My working passion in life in cancer care has always been focusing on the patient first. I have witnessed such excitement for life and passion for living and fighting to live among my years in this field. This has shaped my perception that cancer awareness and education is key for success. The patient is always their best advocate and needs to stay very involved and active in their treatment path, however they need ongoing love and support from others. This support can be given through organizations like CURE® and, therefore, I am grateful to be attending this trip and to be a small part of this experience.

As a married father of five amazing children, daily I stay focused on family, faith and people. My wife Kymberly and I live here in Utah, in the Salt Lake City valley in a suburb. As a family, we are very active in our community and participate in many recreational outdoor activities with our children in the mountains and lakes of Utah. We love to boat, fish, ski, mountain bike – thus, playing in nature. Our family, faith and country is everything to us and as a family man, I find fulfillment in these experiences. We also stay very involved in our local church community and with our local friends. The fact that I have a large family and stay actively involved in everyone’s lives, I love being around others and helping those in need.

Helping others has helped drive my career path in biotech sales for over 21 years now.My passion for working the field of oncology only increased when, in 2015, I lost my mother to pancreatic cancer. This is the point that the fight against cancer became very personal to me. It increased my awareness to the need to get involved and to help in the fight.

I am excited to be attending the CURE® Adventures Sole 2 Soul for MPN™ hiking trip up in Canada as a representative of Incyte. I am especially thrilled to be among fellow oncology community members and to learn more about their personal journey.Whether they be caregivers, patients, nurses or providers, they all are members of a larger family who work together to fight against cancer.

I believe we are all on a joint mission to conquer and overcome the ills of cancer. I feel that this trip will be very educational, inspirational and impactful on both my wife and me as we learn and grow with others on the trip. I feel that opportunities such as this upcoming trip are life-changing to all involved. While on this trip, my wife and I plan to live, love, laugh and support others on this journey we call life. I have learned that life is a special journey and living it is a learning and growing experience.
