Planting the Seeds for MPN Awareness and Research

“Sometimes in life, we don’t get to choose the mountain; it chooses us.” – Neal McCoy
It was a privilege to be able to participate in the inaugural fundraising hike in Waterton Lakes with the Sole 2 Soul for MPN™ team. I am grateful to have met such an amazing group of people, from patients to supporters, and those who hiked in honor of a loved one.
“In unity there is strength; We can move mountains when we’re united and enjoy life.” – Bill Baily
This was a trip that will forever be etched in my heart. Everyone coming together from across borders to support one another, raise awareness for the MPN world and funds for the MPN research foundations.
Enduring a rare blood cancer can be quite the endeavor. To be able to connect with others and feel supported on this journey was a blessing. No one should ever have to feel like they are alone in this MPN battle. Driving awareness, expanding knowledge through research and being able to come together to support one another is crucial to new beginnings and evolving treatments.
“One day, the mountain that is in front of you will be so far behind you, it will barely be visible in the distance. But the person you become in learning to get over it? That will stay with you forever. And that is the point of the mountain.” – Brianna Wiest
There was a such a strong bond formed within the Sole 2 Soul for MPN™ group and this experience has certainly expanded my MPN family. On the last day of the hike, I had a breaking point. A huge release and surge of emotions. To be able to let my own guard down for once and embrace the love and support from others who can relate and understand. One of gratitude, relief and hope. Grateful to have met such driven and passionate souls, and all the hard work everyone has put towards this amazing cause. Relieved to finally not feel alone and fully understood and supported. To know others are in your corner pushing for better results and outcomes. Hopeful that one day there will be better treatments and one day, eventually a cure. To see the MPN world constantly evolving and improving through research gives me hope for a better future and outcome for all patients with MPNs.
“Plant seeds of happiness, hope, success and love; it will all come back to you in abundance. This is the law of nature.” – Steve Maraboli
The seeds have been planted. I look forward to watching them grow. To continue to embrace the hardships within and relish in the abundance of the love and care that goes into nourishing them.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me along my MPN journey. Your thoughtfulness, encouragement and love have meant the world to me. From the people who never left my side to the new connections I have made from afar. Coming together to support, build and conquer will help nourish the seeds of hope for the future of patients within the MPN world.
Much love to all!
