I am a 6th grade math and science teacher, a wife, and a mom to two boys, ages 13 and 15. When my oldest was 2, my mom was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. The prognosis was only two to three years, and sheer panic set in. I began to educate myself, and quickly found the MMRF. I have been actively involved in fundraising events affiliated with the MMRF Power Team ever since. I have run 5k's, 10k's and several half marathons as part of the MMRF Power Team. However, I never dreamed I'd be selected as part of a 12 person team attempting to summit a mountain standing 19,341 feet above sea level to raise money and bring awareness to a cancer that has profoundly changed my life. I am forever grateful for the tireless efforts of the MMRF, and the incredible team of doctors that have contributed to new therapies that have kept my mom alive. Forever GRATEFUL! I am quite nervous for this endeavor to summit Kilimanjaro, ( I have never attempted such a feat) but to do this for such a great cause, and to do it with my twin sister, Julie, will truly be an experience of a lifetime. Let the training begin!!!
