I distinctly remember the moment I discovered that the MMRF’s Moving Mountain Everest Basecamp trip existed! Without any further thought, I knew this was a unique bucket list opportunity that combines so many things I’m passionate about: challenge, adventure, travel, teamwork and most of all, finding my own way to help end multiple myeloma.
After losing my father-in-law, Ed Superson, to MM in 1998, I’ve made it a priority to do what I can to help. In 2016, I was on the fence about racing Iron Man Lake Placid. I had no triathlon experience and wasn’t sure if I should take the plunge, but after I discovered I could join the MMRF Iron Man Lake Placid team and fundraise for the cause, I knew what to do! It turned out to be a great experience and I went on to participate on the MMRF Escape from Alcatraz triathlon team in 2017 as well. As rewarding as my past experience has been, I can’t begin to explain how excited I am to be part of the MMRF Everest Base Camp team. I can’t think of a better way to do it!
We’re all in this one together and I’m looking forward the entire journey!
