When my brother, John, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma three years ago, I really didn't realize what it was about but soon discovered that this cancer currently does not have any cure. I struggled as John underwent aggressive chemo treatments and also saw how this disease impacted his health. I was amazed at his strength and perseverance as he fought this battle.
When John shared his excitement about an opportunity to help raise funds and awareness for multiple myeloma by going on a three-day trek through Iceland, I also became excited when he mentioned this is for family and caregivers of which I am both.
I am honored to be a part of this group to help raise funds and to help research to bring an end to multiple myeloma. I'm looking forward to making new friends and being a part of us all, but especially my brother achieving this huge challenge together.
