Time Flies
December 31, 2015
Time flies for sure, as anyone past a certain age (and even more so with kids) can attest. However intense the emotion of our Grand Canyon adventure, life caught up with us very quickly. Shortly after our return, a bone marrow biopsy and a PET scan (thankfully still looking good) reminded me of my status of patient. Then came the summer break, followed by preparations for a new school year, and here were are, almost singing Christmas carols!
This might sound a little bit disappointing, but shouldn’t such an experience be more transformative? For an introvert like me, the fundraising, outreach and communication represented a bigger mental challenge than going through the physical training. But I did it all, pushed forward by my family and the sense of belonging to a team.
Proudly wearing my MM4MM clothes awakes that feeling every time. More importantly, I know this connection is still there. I participated to my first MMRF Patient Summit (highly recommended). I looked with envy at the photos of the other great events organized by the MMRF. There is so much going on!
Time flies, but we make progress. And now I know that I can help, too.
