In late 2019, I was diagnosed with relapsed multiple myeloma, for which there is currently no known cure. But I'm currently one of the lucky ones, largely due to the new treatments that have been developed over the last several years allowing me to receive cutting-edge immunotherapy that, so far, has kept my disease at bay.
Now I want to help find a cure.
These last few years have been tough with the convergence of myeloma treatment and a COVID pandemic. Under the auspices of the MMRF and MM4MM, I have an opportunity to travel to Alaska in a safe and supportive environment with other myeloma patients, caregivers and medical professionals. Who knew that I could fulfill a dream that I thought was not possible. This is not a “to do” on a “bucket list”; it’s a gift to be fortunate enough to embrace life, travel and the awesomeness of nature. It’s a life-affirming beginning of a whole new chapter.
