I am participating in the Moving Mountains for Multiple Myeloma (MM4MM) Alaska trek because in 2006 I was diagnosed with a cancer. I had never even heard of multiple myeloma. To say my life changed is an understatement. The good news is that I'm still here. I've taken a few punches though: two autologous stem cell transplants, loads of chemotherapy and steroids (can I tell you how much I HATE steroids?), plus infections and many, many emotional days. But I'm currently one of the lucky ones. And it's largely due to the new drugs that have come out over the last 15 years. Now I want to help find a cure.
