In 2017, I watched as one of my close friends, April lost her mother, Brenda to Multiple Myeloma. It was too quick. She was too young. She had so much more life to live. I also saw how it changed my friend. she has always been one of the most humanitarian people I know but this loss lit a fire in April...to bring awareness, to raise funds, to help others dealing with what her family went through and to just live life with a more adventurous spirit. Together, we hiked Mount Democrat in my first MMRF event in 2018. I was so inspired by all of the family members, supporters and especially the patients I met during that first hike. I’m really excited to be taking on this Grand Canyon trek and to help the MMRF get a little closer to a cure. This is why I'm hiking. For Brenda. For April. For the thousands of other patients and family members like them. For a cure.
