To Walk in Someone Else's Shoes
August 19, 2021
I walk into the exam room and will talk to patients about their diagnosis, your treatment plan, and how to manage symptoms. Rarely do I have an opportunity to spend time outside of the hospital environment to know my patients, to appreciate interactions between loved ones and experiences that one may enjoy.
This week trekking through Alaska with several patients and caregivers, I was given this opportunity – an opportunity to re-energize my passion. I laughed, cried and even sang alongside them. I see their love of life and the love of the beauty that surrounds us, and they make me want to do better.
Thank you.
