The legendary broadcast journalist Katie Couric sat down with CURE® to talk about founding the Jay Monahan Center for Gastrointestinal Health in honor of her late husband.

Katie Couric, a passionate advocate and co-founder of Stand Up To Cancer, sat down with CURE® to talk about founding the Jay Monahan Center for Gastrointestinal Health in honor of her late husband and how this treatment center is setting a new standard for centralized cancer care.

“One of the things we discovered when Jay was being treated was that we had to go to all kinds of different places. If he had a new symptom — he got a tumor behind his eye – he had to go to (a specialist) for that,” recalled Couric. “We established the Monahan Center so people could go there and get help in so many different areas—genetic testing, nutrition, psychiatric social work, how do you talk to your children, so you could just really find a support center in one location.”

She also noted that other cancer centers are following suit and centralizing their services. “I’m really thrilled to do whatever I can to ensure these resources and support are available.”
